As part of touring Old Joliet Prison, or as part of attending the Great Joliet Prison Break-In, you will get a chance to see one of the original cells of the Prison.
The cell was able to be 4′ x 7′ x 7′, and would be used to house two inmates. When the prison was first built, these cells would stand five high. This photo shows Warden Joseph Ragen posing next to the original cell, which stands just outside the North Seg building (solitary confinement and death row).
Make sure to get your tickets for The 2nd Annual Great Joliet Prison Break-In, which features music by The Ides of March and The Nikki Hill Band. Proceeds benefit the Joliet Area Historical Museum and their efforts in showcasing the Old Joliet Prison.
